SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
We have an amazing scholarship program thanks to the generosity of our sponsors. Scholarship amounts range between $250 - $1000 and are awarded by random draw from all eligible entries.
Eligibility Criteria:
Volunteer must be registered in a full-time program at an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution by December 31 of the year of the Festival (ex: for this year by Dec. 31, 2022).
Volunteer must complete a minimum of 2 shifts (approx. 10 hours) to be entered into the draw. More shifts = more entry forms!
Forms are available at Volunteer Registration during the Festival. Volunteers must have Registration sign-off on the hours completed.Volunteers must hand them in at the end of the festival.
VULNERABLE SECTOR CHECK
A few sections in our volunteer program require a vulnerable sector check. It is a background check done by Edmonton Police Services to ensure our vulnerable populations safety.
STEP 1
You will need a letter from us stating that you are volunteering. Please make sure to add your name. You can download the letter HERE.
STEP 2
If the position you signed up for requires a vulnerable sector check, you can complete it online HERE.
Make sure to complete the 'Police Information Check - Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS)'. It is $15 and will be reimbursed two weeks after the festival when receipt is returned to chelsea@heritagefest.ca.
STEP 3
Return the Vulnerable Sector Check to chelsea@heritagefest.ca and send her your receipt for the check. It will be reimbursed two weeks after the festival.
* Please note: Persons under the age of 18, do NOT need to have a vulnerable sector check completed.
HOSPITALITY
Volunteers will receive a meal chit or card from their supervisors during their shifts that they may exchange for a meal from participating cultural tents.
