Job Title: Marketing Team Lead

Reports to: Marketing Team Lead will report to the Executive Director and Office Manager

Location: Association office, 118 Avenue Edmonton

Start Date: May 2023 (Contract Position May – September)

Salary: $25/per hour


About the Edmonton Heritage Festival Association (EHFA):

  • Our Mission is to “To promote public awareness, understanding and appreciation for cultural diversity through an annual summer festival”. 

  • We present Heritagefest annually and assist other cultural events over the course of the remainder of the year. 

  • We are a member of the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts (CIOFF). Our shared partner, UNESCO, has named us an “Intangible Cultural Heritage Asset”.​


About Heritagefest:

  • Heritagefest is the world’s largest three-day celebration of multiculturalism. It is a collection of Alberta based cultural groups that come together to share their history, song, dance and food with the world from tented pavilions on 17 hectares. 

  • Up to one hundred cultural organizations present to over three hundred thousand live and one and a half million on-line visitors annually. 

  • It is facilitated by the Edmonton Heritage Festival Association, overseen by a Board of Directors and managed by a small staff.


Job Brief:

We are looking for a knowledgeable, talented, and organized Marketing Team Lead to implement and maintain a strong marketing strategy for our company. Your role will be to plan, implement, execute, and monitor our marketing strategies. This person must have excellent leadership skills, oral and written communication skills, advanced knowledge of social channels and advertising, great understanding of analytics and experience in graphic design.

The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of the best practices for multiple media outlets and experience using tools to monitor and assess the effectiveness of the strategy. If you are a detail-oriented, creative, tech-savvy individual with excellent communication skills, we would like to meet you.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop a marketing and communications strategy through traditional media and social media including ad campaigns.

  • Develop content to increase community engagement online

  • Create and manage all hard copy advertisements

  • Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs)—like link clicks, likes, and other metrics

  • Respond to queries through social networks and emails

  • Liaise with media outlets and plan media conference

  • Assist with other events happening prior to the festival

  • Managing a small team of social media coordinators


Skills & Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of social media management experience

  • Has 3+ years working in events

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, public relations or related field

  • General knowledge of Search Engine Optimization and internet ranking for web content

  • Strong understanding of marketing strategy and how to effortlessly utilize these concepts throughout various forms of outreach

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Advanced knowledge of social channels relevant to the company’s success

  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office & Adobe Suites

  • Strategic thinking for developing effective marketing campaigns

  • Ability to study and interpret marketing analytics

  • Great organizational skills: ability to monitor multiple social media platforms

  • Good leadership skills to organize junior social media specialists

  • Adept at community building and keeping calm under high-pressure


Other Requirements:

This is a contract position starting in May and ending in mid-late August. This position will be on-site at our office (west end) for majority of the contract. During the week of the festival, the position will be conducted at the festival grounds: the Exhibition Lands & Borden Park. Candidates MUST be fully available two weeks before, during, and two weeks after the festival. Some evening work will be required.
